I'm finishing a sci-fi novel about the Stateless Society Concept. Nearest future, alternative universe. Synopsis of the book, which will come later this year.
In the latter half of the 2020s, the world will become increasingly fractured and unstable. A stateless society concept called VERV emerges in 2024, aiming to create a social experiment with universal basic income and equitable resource distribution, powered by cutting-edge technologies like AI, VR, and blockchain. Its target audience consists of digital nomads, crypto enthusiasts, gamers, and neurodivergent individuals.
Coinciding with VERV's rise, women worldwide protest armed conflicts, demanding an immediate ceasefire and the right to control their reproductive choices. Unexpectedly, fertility rates plummet globally, even in peaceful regions, driving up stocks of artificial womb research companies. VERV seizes this opportunity, partnering with Argentina in 2028 to claim Antarctica as a testing ground for human survival in extreme conditions, preparing for future space colonization and mining initiatives.
By 2030, VERV has crowdfunded an astonishing $10 trillion for developing Antarctica's infrastructure, later increasing the goal to $25 trillion. As the poles become more habitable due to climate change and rising sea levels, Russia loses significant northern territories. After Putin's death, the Orthodox Church and FSB seize control, forming the militaristic ORCS Empire alongside Belarus.
Tensions escalate when a fake-feminist movement called FEMKA emerges in Russia in 2033, using manipulation tactics to spread infertility-causing vaccines globally. By 2035, the entire world is rendered infertile, except for a mysteriously immune few. VERV responds by accelerating artificial womb research and development.
In 2036, VERV establishes its capital, Yen City, in Antarctica, complete with an airport, ferry, and Hyperloop lines to South America and beyond. The discovery of oil and gas on the Antarctic shelf in 2039 nearly sparks armed conflict with the United States, but a resolution is reached to tokenize and distribute the resources evenly among stakeholders, with VERV as the operator.
The fragile peace is shattered in 2042 when the ORCS Empire destroys the US fleet with a mysterious "super-dreadnought" weapon, capable of generating devastating storms. Recognizing ORCS' formidable power, the World Government Platform (WGP) and the US pause their military ambitions, focusing instead on ramping up production.
Finally, in 2044, the Third World War erupts, pitting the ORCS Empire and its allies against the Commonwealth, led by NATO states and the European Union. With humanity's fate hanging in the balance, the world's superpowers engage in a cataclysmic struggle for dominance, while VERV's Antarctic colony represents a potential sanctuary for the survivors of this global conflict. The ending remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: the world as we know it will never be the same again.
